The "6 minutes then we see" method
This week I want to share with you the technique my client Lou uses to get on her mat every day.
If you're trying to set up a daily routine and struggling to find the motivation for it, it's a game changer.
When we started working together, she was worried she wouldn't stick to a new routine or find the time for it.
But she's been going strong with the "6 minutes, then we see" method. (We're still working on the name.)
Essentially, the first thing she does in the morning is to roll out her mat. Then she decides if she wants to be guided (and use one the videos I made for her)... or if she wants to do her own thing (we've been working together for a long time, so she has a lot of tools in her belt!)
If she does her own routine, she sets a timer for 6 minutes.
In her own words: "It allows me to make sure I do a bit of yoga before I start the day, even if I'm not sure I have the time or if I don't have the motivation to commit to 20 minutes."
When the timer rings, she decides if she wants to keep going for another 6 minutes, or if she's had enough. More often than not, she resets the timer for one or two rounds. Because once she starts, she realises she enjoys it and wants to do more.
Some key lessons here:
- Doing something, however little, is always better than doing nothing.
- The hardest step to make is the first one. And as motivation follows action, once you make that first step, it's much easier to keep going.
- Find a way to make this first step easy, automatic, attractive, satisfying and/or rewarding. The rest will follow.
And if you need more inspo to help you build a healthier routine and stop feeling so OLD even though you consider yourself a millenial...

I must confess, so are my knees...
Here are more ways I can help you:
- This podcast episode goes over what to do when you are not motivated to exercise, meditate, or do any self-care routine:
- This **gentle morning flow** will only take 7 minutes of your time. Don't think, roll out of bed and onto your mat, and follow along. You won't regret it, I promise.
- I've opened some call slots for next week. We can take 15-30 minutes to go over your situation and I'll let you know how I can help. If you prefer to write it down, here are some questions for you, answer them and I'll come back to you asap.
I hope that helps. Take care 🧡 Om, peace.
