Survive the stress of the Holidays
Holidays can be a wonderful time, but let's be honest, they can also be a huge source of stress.
You might be around judgmental people, decades-old conflicts can arise, some of your loved ones might have recently passed, or you might simply feel lonely...
I wanna share with you some thoughts on how to bring some softness to this potentially harsh time.
- Stay in touch with people who genuinely ask you how you're doing A strong support system is particularly important at this time of the year. If you need a compassionate ear, please don't hesitate to contact me. Send me a simple "holidays suck", and I'll take it from there :)
- Be mindful of your negative self-talk Your inner critic loves the Holidays. It loves to judge what you say, what you eat and what you wear. Notice when it shows its ugly head, it'll help you put some distance between those thoughts and the reality.
- Prepare for unpleasant conversations You might have to endure annoying questions and pointless debates. Don't be afraid to speak your mind, but make sure you use your energy wisely and cultivate a bubble of serenity around you.
- Don't fall prey to "black and white" thinking When we're feeling lonely, we tend to be more pessimistic than usual. Notice when it happens, take a step back, breathe and let go of the stories your mind is trying to tell you.
Once again, yoga is such a helpful tool to remind us that this too shall pass. And that we have the option to breathe and relax, even during challenging times.
I wish you beautiful Holidays and lots of love.
Om, peace 🧡
