Is yoga really for everyone?
I used to love posting spectacular yoga poses on social media. You probably know the ones I'm talking about: arm balances, deep splits... the poses that make people go "wow".
Then I realised that it was going against everything I stand for.
These images were sending the wrong message: that yoga isn't for everyone. That you need to be fit, healthy, flexible and strong to practice.
Yoga is for everyone. But not everything is for everyone.
Most of my clients come to me precisely because they're NOT strong or flexible. They're dealing with chronic pain, stress, or simply feeling disconnected from their bodies.
A lot of them have told me they used to think yoga wasn't for them because of what they saw online. And I get it!
But (and I'm so proud they trusted me on that), they gave it a try. We found the postures and exercises that fit their unique bodies.
They kept showing up for themselves and they found more peace in their body and mind. Simple as that.
Here's what I've learned after more than 10 years of yoga:
- The most transformative practice isn't the most advanced one
- Progress looks different for everyone
- Consistency matters more than perfection
- The goal isn't to achieve poses, it's to feel better
The beauty of yoga lies in its adaptability. You don't need to be flexible to start. You don't need to be strong to benefit. You don't need to achieve Instagram-worthy poses to experience profound change.
So stop getting in your own way, and start practicing now :) If you need my help, I'm always here.
Om, peace 🧡
